1989 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia in Victoria, British Columbia for sale

After 22 years it's time for "Uma" to move to a new home. I am the second owner of a BC - based 89 Vanagon/ Westfalia purchased by a North Vancouver resident from Cowell Richmond in 1989 (I have the original Purchase and Sale sheet). 2.1L engine, manual transmission. Uma has been nothing short of 'fantastic' for years of camping and transporting - including bicycles, kayaks (roof rack included), lumber, compost, gravel (carefully, in plastic barrels), as well as furniture (three house moves of our own, and for others. You'd be amazed at how much a Vanagon/transporter can take inside). To sell Uma is a very difficult decision but we have to move on sometime... as you know what happens in the long run. Odometer says 419,800 +/- but it's high by 100k.
Lots of work done since September 1996; I have all receipts. Work over the years includes: new paint (and rust repair by capable firm), rebuilt engine and trans, new 16" allow wheels and Pirelli tires, suspension parts, pop-top screen, etc. Plus, work in last month in anticipation of sale = oil change + filter, new shocks and struts, new front wheel bearings, new rear door struts, propane tank checked out. Too much to list. She's not perfect but if you'd like to see a good Westfalia, come see Uma before you decide.
A note about kayak carrying. The supporting plates on Uma's pop-top roof are 2m apart which means there is excellent stability for long kayaks (ours are about 5.5m long) without bow and stern hold-down straps. Thule cross-bars and kayak saddles included, and we'll throw in our small ladder and an older Paulchen bike - ski rack (not pictured). (Kayak loading/ unloading instructions: priceless!)
