TWILIGHT OF STEAM
A nostalgic look at the steam locomotive as it passed into railway history. In its heyday the steam engine seemed immortal, but with dieselization the steam engine was relegated to the grave yard and the cutting torch. Through interviews with railway engineers, rail workers and footage of the remaining steam engines this 1959 production documents the end of the steam era. B&W, 24 minutes
CN RAILROAD TOWN
A visit to Melville, Saskatchewan, a railroad town on the Canadian National Railway mainline. In 1956 dieselization was in full swing, but railway activity at Melville still included the steam locomotive. The CNR's new Super Continental passenger train is also featured. B&W, 28 minutes
FAST FREIGHT
An account of a fast freight on a run from Toronto to Halifax. At CN's Turcot yard in Montreal the train is broken down and rebuilt for the second half of the trip to Halifax. Activities at the yard shown include: the engine maintenance shop, yard office, rip track for wheel unit replacement, switching yard, and more. B&W, 28 min.
