This custom-built FreeNAS server is housed in a Lian-Li all aluminum case, soundproof and sporting silent aluminum wheels (lockable) and a front door. It has a professional grade Supermicro X10-SLL-F motherboard with a genuine Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 CPU. It is equipped with 32 GB of Kingston ECC DDR3 RAM for maximum throughput. A new Seasonic 400 watt power supply unit provides ample power for expansion. The motherboard has 2 gigabyte ethernet ports for the network, plus an IPMI port for system monitoring.
The system is currently set up to boot from a motherboard-mounted USB type A port, using a reliable Kingston USB stick. It is currently equipped with 2 Western Digital Red 3 TB hard drives, although the case and motherboard can support up to 6 of them.
