I have a room available for February 1st, possibly sooner. Rent is $600, utilities (hydro, wifi with unlimited data and fast speeds) are not included in the rent. Those run about $75/month. There would be no damage deposit cost to you, because I paid the whole thing four years ago when I was renting the apartment by myself. A covered parking space, which I don't use, is included in the rent.
The room is unfurnished. I did my best to measure its dimensions on my own, as I had no-one to assist me. The room is a little under 11ft long, and approximately 9ft wide. The closet is about 6.5ft wide, and about 1.75ft deep. The ceilings in both cases are 8ft high.
The building is calm, quiet, and non-smoking, in that smoking of any kind must be done outside of the building, and partying is best done elsewhere. Common spaces in the apartment are shared, and shared upkeep is expected. Laundry facilities are available on the building site - $1.50 to wash, $1.75 to dry, using loonies and quarters. One dryer is older and is $1.25/load, but only takes quarters, and dries clothes just as well as the other machines. This building, however, does not have elevators or balconies!
Visitors are fine, as long as there isn't a steady stream of them, and you all respect the building's 10pm noise curfew. Myself, I have an almost-teen who visits one day every weekend, and a fiancé in Australia whom I trade visits with a few times a year, for the time being.
I'm a 34-year-old female cyclist and cook; I'm LGBT+ friendly, I don't smoke anything, and I enjoy a drink (usually wine) sometimes. I work late, and get home late, but I am fairly quiet. I have a cat, but she needs to be the only cat or I get lots of scratches!
Ideally, I'd like someone who is looking for long-term, but if I don't get that, it isn't a dealbreaker. I prefer my roommates to be chill, respectful people who don't smoke cigarettes (cannabis is totally fine!) and aren't heavy drinkers.
