This is the guitar that began my collection. I drove with my friend Don up to Courtenay to purchase this in a Costco parking lot, from the son of the original owner. His name, Chez Allen, is painted on the original chipboard case included in this sale. As you can see, the guitar lacks its pickguard and also the vinyl stripping along its sides. What it does not lack is playability, tone, and mojo. It is set up perfectly, plays far better than you would likely expect, and sounds gorgeous, in no small part due to the original lipstick pickups for which these guitars are legendary. In case you did not know, these pickups are actually housed in surplus lipstick containers! In my opinion, this guitar is about as cool as it gets. Priced a good deal below what folks usually ask for these, given its cosmetic "imperfections," but really I would not change a single thing about this instrument. Whoever ends up with it will have something special.
