The enclosure began life as a boutique high-end monoblock audio power amplifier (see photos). Machined from solid aluminum, anodized black, it inherently excels at passive cooling. Using 1/8" cold-rolled copper plate, raised platforms for the motherboard and power supply were cut, lacquered for a lifelong bright finish, and secured using brass hex offsets and black-oxide stainless cap screws. The motherboard and power supply were mounted on likewise. Cabling was routed and along the inside perimeter in black Techflex wrap, with a matching black twisted-pair leading to a satisfyingly burly heavy-duty power toggle in a custom made copper enclosure. Included in are the proper Frearson and Hex drivers for access.
Detailed hardware specifications are in the last photo. In summary: 32GB of G.Skill TridentX F3 memory. Intel i7-4790K quad-core chip - which at 4.0GHz from the factory is pinnacle of core clock speed - will excel for applications, tools and games that prioritize sheer clock speed over core count. Storage is provided by the limited edition G.Skill Phoenix Blade SSD, mounted on a PCI-Express x8 card, with 480GB routed through FOUR individual SSD controllers combined in a RAID 0 for sheer speed.
The peripherals match the design philosophy of the PC. The mouse is the Logitech G500 - designed for gamers with a high-res laser, and also great for photo/video editing and productivity with more than a dozen hot-programmable buttons. The power, video, and USB are all wrapped in 20ft of black techflex, giving you the freedom to have the PC stationary while moving the monitor/keyboard/mouse throughout the room.
To play high-end games you would need to install a graphics card, there is an open PCI-Express slot. I was going to install one of the following -
