This vehicle has been my baby and we've had a lot of fun together. However, I'm about to depart for graduate school so it's time to look for her new owner.
'Wolfy' is the most mechanically sound vanagon you'll find on the local market; I have a stuffed file folder of receipts dating back almost 20 years to prove it. I've put ten grand into her this year alone- character limit won't allow me to list all repairs but the biggest items include a rebuilt transmission, replaced and resealed fuel tan, Muffler and exhaust, starter, Fuse Panel and Ground Block in Dash, radiator hose/coolant pipes, both wheel bearings, Accelerator Cable + Lube, Oil & filter service and other small preventative maintenance (trans fluid etc) every 6 months.
Engine was rebuilt in 2007 and only has 50,000 kms on it.
I recently took her into Beetle Auto to get her regular oil/filter change, and to give her an inspection so future buyer knew what to watch for. I'm happy to report that she got a clean bill of health. She's not burning oil, the engine is A+, no fluid leaks, or electrical problems. This girl is adventure ready.
The exterior has a couple of dents/dings from the previous owner. She could also use a new coat of paint, which I had intended to do recently until the transmission broke. With that said, she's not a rust bucket. Compared to some of the vanagons I've seen her age, this ole lady is in great condition.
Aside from her A-grade mechanical shape, she's got a long list of other perks including; a modern stereo system with a USB port, Mercedes Benz rims, appliances all work and the pop-top is in excellent condition. I also revamped her interior last year and installed hardwood linoleum, seat covers and new curtains.
To interested vanagon hobbiests/collectors: This rare California made Wolfsburg camper has both Wolfsburg badges and the original 1984 owner's manual. I've also kept the original vanagon curtains and seat covers and they're all in pristine condition.
Final note: please don't waste my time with low ball offers. I love this van and I'm in no rush to sell it.
