These are fast, expedition kayaks that are responsive to your body language. They track true and do not need a rudder. As a novice, this was the first kayak I ever paddled. I bought them because I wanted to learn how to control a boat with technique. I bought a few books on the kayak and was soon on my way to learning how to roll the boat upright after a capsize! Nordkapps have been on expeditions all around the world in some of the worst weather conditions imaginable.
In his book Sea Canoeing, Derek Hutchinson had this to say about these boats: "The Nordkapp is a fast expedition kayak for the expert. Built for the open sea, it is approximately 17 1/2 feet long and is a slender 21 inches wide. The hull is rounded in cross section, but its lack of initial stability is well compensated for by the fast cruising speed. Its length gives the boat plenty of storage space, and it has carried more than 200 lbs on a number of expeditions.
The Nordkapp comes in a number of different models it is undoubtedly one of the best expedition kayaks on the market today. Watertight hatches, bulkheads and a bilge pump are normal extras to the expedition model, recessed deck fittings can be custom fitted, and the footrest is swing-out-fail-safe. All these kayaks are exceptionally well built and have sufficient but not excessive freeboard."
