I'm looking for a cruising boat around 27 feet, for singlehanding and cruising the islands with my wife. We're experienced sailors and have owned boats to 37 feet. This time we're looking for something small and simple, but strong, seaworthy and seakindly, with a good reputation and good looks. Must be well maintained, in good shape; no project boats.
We had an Ericson 27 in the 90s, and another would be great, but we'd look at others with a cruising focus, e.g. Ontario 28, maybe Northern 25, possibly C&C if set up for cruising, etc.; or long-keel boats like Cape Dory, Pearson Triton (or any Alberg design) etc. Not interested in Catalina, Hunter, MacGregor, Grampian, Tanzer; just not to our taste.
Preferences (can compromise some or add / remove ourselves):
- outboard power; if inboard, diesel, low hours (no dead inboards)
- simple systems: no pressure water, 110 appliances etc.
- Dodger, heat
- permanent stove in galley (not camping stove)
- furling genoa
- no bridgedeck traveller
- headroom (near 5'10"), at least at the galley
Thanks for your interest!
