"Sea Fern" was built in 1974 as the original plug for the Spencer 51/53 line of yachts. She has a spacious bright layout below and is well equipped with electronics and recently upgraded electrical system. Roller furling main and genoa, spinnaker and 2 headsails. 2 heads, shower. General Info and Arrangement:
This is a semi-custom built sailing vessel known as a Spencer 51 She is resoricinol glued mahogany strip planked 1 1/8" X 1 1/8" with steam bent oak frames fastened with stainless screws. The exterior from about 2' below the waterline to the shear is covered with 3/16' fibreglass. The hull is covered with an extra band of about 1/2" frp from about 2' below the waterline to about 2' below the hull-keel joint.
Layout has chain locker forward. V-berth area is adjacent with head compartment and shower to starboard side and storage lockers to port. Salon area is next aft, with settee/hide-a-bed to starboard side. Dinette is adjacent aft starboard side with nav. station to port. Cabin entrance is midships with galley to starboard. Aft cabin has 2 bunks plus head compartment and vanity. Machinery space is below the salon sole. Vessel finish is painted white Awlgrip. Decks and cabin top are white and blue polyurethane paint.
