Framed oil painting on board signed by Canadian listed artist R.L. Harvey ASA (Reginald Llewellyn 1888-1973).
This framed ocean scape oil painting on artist board is in nice condition, there are a couple of small chips in the paint showing the white of the canvas board.
The painting is signed in the lower right hand corner by Canadian listed artist R.L. Harvey (Reginald Llewellyn 1888 - 1973).
Born in Southampton, England, Harvey studied at University College, Southampton under E.A. Conway; at Yarmouth School of Art, Norfolk; and at Regent Street Polytechnic, London. He came to Calgary, Alberta in 1912 where he worked as Supervisor of Art for the Calgary School Board (1922-31). Working in oil, pastel and watercolour, he is best known for his mountain landscapes near Banff, Alberta, and his coastal views in the Gulf Islands, British Columbia. He was manager of the Art Department for the Calgary Exhibition for 20 years, and retired to Victoria in 1951 where he later died. He was a founding member of the ASA and exhibited with the AAM in 1929.
Measurements are 12.75 inches in height x 14.75 inches in width.
